SCOPE:
Arrange, procure, and distribute White Canes for the blind to each individual targeted blind student. The Cane must be folding and is appropriate in length based on age and height. The cane will meet all international standards in regards to quality and functionality.

OBSERVATION:
It was observed that blind and visually impaired students are using pipe like self-made devices to replicate the function of a white cane. A request to facilitate resources was received by the organization.

Vision Without Barriers successfully completed a partnership with the Government College University Lahore, Pakistan in 2022. In this one of the kind memorandum of agreement GCU adaptive lab for differently abled students was refreshed. The lab was fitted with state of the art desktop computers to assist the students with their educational and vocational needs. Addition to this Vision Without Barriers provided Outreach avenues to the parents of the students and promised to work with the institution for the duration of MOU to further empowerment efforts. Vision Without Barriers was honored by GCU and this on-going venture will hopefully strive to make the special students lab a premier department in the country.

Vision Without Barriers partnered with the local blind Beep Baseball team to foster empowerment by providing new uniforms and jerseys for the team. The team players provided inspirational mentorship for future players and agreed to provide lessons learnt to help those who are coming behind as next generation of Beep Baseball players.

Access to higher education remains one of the greatest challenges faced by blind and visually impaired women in Pakistan. While universities continue to expand academic opportunities, physical infrastructure and accessible learning environments often remain inadequate for students requiring assistive technologies. Recognizing this gap, Vision Without Barriers (VWB), in collaboration with the Independent Living Centre (ILC) at Lahore College for Women University (LCWU), initiated one of its flagship inclusion projects: the establishment of a modern Assistive Technology Laboratory dedicated to supporting blind and visually impaired female students. This initiative extended far beyond donating equipment. It represented a complete transformation of an abandoned government facility into a vibrant, technology-enabled, student-centered learning environment where accessibility, dignity, and opportunity converge.

Today, the laboratory serves as a safe, inclusive, and empowering space where students can access assistive technologies, prepare academic work, complete online applications, study independently, collaborate with peers, and receive support for their educational journey. The project demonstrates how targeted infrastructure investment, combined with accessible technology and institutional collaboration, can significantly reduce educational barriers for women with visual impairments.

Goal:

To foster independence using technology to navigate basic tasks like:

• Decipher money notes
• Object depiction
• Navigate routes
• Identify upcoming landmarks and other streets close by
• Read written items in both English and other available languages
• Able to read business cards and scan it into the contacts of a mobile device
• Able to read prescription
